Site Evaluation
Physical properties of urban sites such as solar radiation, airflows, and views, are key factors necessary to achieve both human comfort and an efficient employment of building technologies. Using Volumetric Site Analysis, we are able to discretize an empty urban site into a volumetric grid of points and run different physical simulations for each of these points. The resulting information and the ability to interact with its quantitative, volumetric, dynamic, and directional dimensions allow us to develop a deep awareness on how these environmental resources are distributed through a site. Combining this knowledge with specific project demands related for example to space, daylight, shading, sight, ventilation, heat, or electricity, allows us to retrieve initial design propositions based on the unique nature of each site. To make available this technology to external users we are currently developing UrbanMetrix software.
