Design of a two-family house located on the terraces of the Lavaux
The Lavaux region, a Unesco world heritage site, is a landscape composed of historic villages and terraced vineyards that overlook the Lake Geneva and its mountains. The slope's inclination, its southern exposure, and its proximity to the lake have made this area a privileged place for vine cultivation. This rural hill, deeply transformed by the work of humans over the centuries, exudes a unique sculptural symbiosis between nature and culture. This project concerns the design of a two-family house in this spectacular cultural landscape. The harmonious integration of this living structure into the Lavaux slope requires an accurate balance between multiple elements such as history and contemporaneity, the views over the landscape and the intimacy of the house, or the protection from an abundant sun and the internal access to natural light. The goal of the project is thus to create a rational but cozy architectural solution in this demanding topographic and regulatory context.
Project by M. Colombo and M. Leidi, ongoing.
